SPEEDIN' DOUG
Lowside Magazine is a growing organization of like-minded riders and builders, where the focus is equally about riding as it is about building. It seems these days as if the original spirit of motorcycling has been misinterpreted, the point of building a motorcycle after-all, is to ride. Doug Wall from Lowside Syndicate took a break from terrorizing the streets of Baltimore to tell us a little bit more about himself and Lowside. Most know him better as Speedin' Doug, and there's good reason. Check out the gnarly video below and see for yourself...

THE LITTLE HONDA THAT COULD
Sometimes life hands us lemons, and we're told to make lemonade. But sometimes we give that old adage a big middle finger and turn those lemons into something a little better than lemonade... like a sweet little Honda chop.
Josh Stroder had hit a rough patch in his life, and he decided that he needed a distraction from all of the junk going on. A close friend, who had just gotten into motorcycles, came to him and urged him to give it a try as well. Thankfully, he took that advice. Wanting more than just some cookie-cutter bike, he took to tracking down a project, something to get his hands dirty and make his own.

SHOP TALK
There are two kinds of people in this world. People that do and people that don't. Chad Pecchi at Shop102 is one of those that does. Out of his two car garage in Kennesaw, GA Chad works at making his dream a reality. He spends countless nights perfecting his craft, breathing life into bare metal. Creating some of the coolest handlebars, bikes, and hard parts you've ever laid eyes on. He does all of this while still holding down a 40 hour a week grind at a local sign shop. Thankfully, Chad pulled his welding mask off long enough to talk to us about Shop102. Here's what he had to say...

ABANDONED
I made my way out to one of my favorite places in the world this weekend. It's an abandoned fishing house and dock out in Poquoson, VA. A wonderful place where life just paused and never again pressed play. Theres a a few boats tied up that have been long forgotten, thousands of oyster shells lining the road, and an white brick building that's slowly sinking into the Chesapeake bay. It's quiet. I could spend hours out there and I have.
We all have these awesome little hide aways that we think are our own. It's funny, they never were. Just a place someone before you discovered and forgot about. We were just the next in line to find them.
Where's your hidden paradise? Where's your get away?

NEGLECT
Sorry we've neglected you fine folks. We usually have something fresh for your eyes by now, but we've been slammed busy with projects and getting stuff together for this site. We have some really REALLY awesome features in store, I can't wait to share them with you, but I don't want to spoil the surprise. The t-shirt contest is really heating up, and we're trying to get everything in order to get some merch ordered. I'm stoked out of my mind about everything that's coming together.
Meanwhile, I've been in the garage the last three days thrashing, and being thrashed on by this grumpy old codger; my '62 Fairlane. I blew off work this week to rebuild the front suspension and convert the old sluggish drum brakes to disc brakes. I got suckered by an eBay swindler and my front end rebuild kit shows up too little too late, so bag that. Here are some teaser shots, I'll do a full tech post when I'm not so tired of brake parts that I wanna kill something...

ALL = ONE
Thank you. We really can't say that enough. Thank you for sharing this idea. For spreading the word about this wild bunch. For being part of our ever growing family. It's because of a faithful few that this fire started and we sure as hell don't plan on it going out. So here's to those that helped us get on our feet, and to those that are gonna run right along side of us.
From everyone at The Lost Highways, Thank you.

UNMASKING SPIDERMAN: THE TALE OF LARRY MCBRIDE
Newport News, Virginia is like many small American cities. Fairly quiet, unassuming, full of hardworking people trying to get by. We're known for the Newport News Shipyard as well as being home to many military families. There isn't much past ordinary. Nothing to make us stand out from the crowd. But what you may not know is that, in the heart of this typical city, lies the headquarters of one of the world's fastest men. A man who has broken more records than bones. A man who, even in his fame, is more down to earth than most. This man is world champion drag racer, Larry McBride.
In that video Larry breaks 6.00s for the first time in history. Shockingly, even that is not his fastest time. Larrys current record is 5.79s @ 245 mph. Thankfully "Spiderman" made some time to sit down with us recently. We met him at his machine shop, Cycle Specialist, in Newport News. Here's what the man himself had to say...

THE ONE

I'll still trying to figure how to call out sick and go to this..
Looks like a great time. Interesting builds, amazing art, and super weird people. What's not to like?
If your in or near Portland you really must go. There's no excuse.
Be sure to check out the gallery under "the bikes" section (that's where these shots are from) and also check out who's gonna be at the art show! Art work by The Harpoon and Gorgeous George. Yes.
Anyways Virginia sucks I'm late for work and I wish I lived in Portland.

DR. CHOPPER OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE WRENCH

A couple weeks ago my dudes Wes and Fraggle gave me some awesome parts for my bike. Aluminum cam and primary covers. I was stoked to say the least. I've been wanting to change up the bike for a while and this provided the perfect opportunity.
I made my way over to my Uncles garage. The man is a marksman with an angle grinder. Forty years of racing and building stock cars will do that to you. After trimming the fat off the cam cover I got to work hand polishing the two pieces. I know it would be much easier with a polishing wheel but I'm stubborn. You gotta eat dirt to appreciate a steak. So two hours and a couple Coors later, I was done. We finished up the night listening to Outlaw Country, debating firearms, and talkin bout the glory days of circle track racing.

WORLD'S FASTEST INDIAN
Every year or two I get this hankering to watch The World's Fastest Indian. If you aren't familiar with this movie, you are doing yourself a great disservice. Anthony Hopkins portrays the legendary Burt Munro.
Burt Munro was an amazing man, a self-made, self-taught land speed racing motorcycle builder from New Zealand. He raced his custom built 1920 Indian Scout at Bonneville multiple times. He cast his own pistons from an alloy he cooked up of old Chevy and Ford bits. I could write all day and never do this fellow any justice, so I'll leave any further research up to you.
Do yourself a favor, if you haven't already and watch the movie, then learn a bit about Burt yourself. You'll never look at building a project the same again

Always A Good Time
Well Red Fang is at it again with their new video for Hank is Dead. These guys never cease to amaze me. Raw talent and cheap beer. Couldn't be a better combination.
Check it out.
